Just had confirmation of another MOT catastrophe...
the list (extensive) contained...

New front sidelights (inoperative)
New front tyres
New front brake discs & pads (due to having a sticking caliper twice in the past year my discs resemeble a bowl).
New front lower arm (Streetracers fitted poly bushes into existing lower arms..Garage claim lower arms are seized and creeking excessively (true). also one of the nuts has been welded onto the thread of the bolt (not allowed on steering component - God knows WHY someone would weld it on there anyway!)
originally quoted £300 +VAT for work to be done (price included £44.00 for MOT).
i have knocked them down to £120+VAT for all work done except tyres, with a free-retest and a dianosis on my rear brakes...

in a week that my work has been banging on about negotiation skills i think i've done pretty well!

Lower arm, piece of piss to change.
Sidelights - easy fix I'm sure.
Brakes - piece of piss.

Count yourself lucky that's all it needs!

Although why didnt you check things before the MOT?

sidelights, tyres, wishbones and brakes are the easiest things to check and change before going to an mot to save hassle surely?

admittedly, upon reflection, it isn't/wasn't that bad.
i should have checked sidelights, and knew brakes were a little ropey....
didn't have time for much else.....i can only really do anything to my car at weekends and haven't had time to do anything. i assumed the lower arms would be fine. they were fitted sometime last year but Streetracers .
anyway, it's done now. just got to sort tyres.
