Right iv been sent this picture of an Si thats apparently had a 2L conversion, now im know expert but the 1.6 air box assembly thing looks a bit suspect. But looking at 2L conversions on here it looks hard to tell the 1.6L from 2L and Im thinking maybe it has the 1.6L airbox thing to hide its a 2L? Another worrying thing is it doesn't appear to have an airbox/filter?!

A decent fiesta with a 2L engine is looking hard to come by so im starting to think of getting a Mk2 fiesta and dumping an Xr2i engine in it, is this a hard conversion? And what will performance be like compared to an Si with a 2L engine. The only other conversion I fancy is a 106 with gti engine as its so easy to do...but French cars do suck!

The inlet looks the right size to be an rs1800 item tbh so it may be a 2.0. As Will said, it will have 2.0 stamped on the block but iirc you have to remove the exhaust manifold to see it. basicly if its go a 2.0 in it your no about it when you drive it :devil:

mines has the 1.6 crosover pipe on it but jst because thats what it says doesnt mean it is looks like mines although mines has an air filter

look at the back of the block. if you stand on the passenger side. in about the one o clock postion where the bell housing bolts onto the block there will be a gap unless its been plated up and most people dont bother youll be able to feel it its a fair size just not with the engine running. this is where iirc mondeos have rear mounted starters. or something along those lines. the 1.6 and 1.8s to the best of my knowledge wont have this gap.

its a right twat to tell if its got all the std gear on. but if its on 1.6 management then it wont be doing it any favours.

Didnt bother in the end, I sent about 2 emails to the guy asking questions and an address or phone number to contact him to arrange viewing and all I got back was friday morning. The car itself has been "barry boyed" up which is something I really dont want, and the bidding at the moment looks like the cars going to go out of my price range anyway.

Im thinking of waiting till im back from uni and either converting a fiesta or saxo myself as I really want the sleeper look, maybe something good will come up in the meantime though.

Looks like a bit of a bodgers paradise anyway... wires all over the place, bottom of the airbox left in, blue tape covering up the undoubtedly rusty fuel rail, loads of little things that makes you question whether someone would have spent the time doing the engine conversion properly in the first place.
