Okay, ive spent far too much time looking on the dvla website re-reading the bike license laws.

As i got my driving license only last year, im right in thinking this doesnt cover me to ride any sort of bike even on L plates?

So this means i just book a CBT and turn up with no biking experience, then by the end of the day / course i can go buy a 125 and ride it under L plates untill i take my bike test which then allows me anything up to about a 400cc? 33bhp whatnot, for 2 years, and then i can ride any bike i want?

If anybody could just clarify that would be appreciated :)

As far as I understand..

Full driving license + CBT = 125 motorbike without L's (someone may correct me tho)

Anything more than that means bike license.

Yup CBT is what the young-uns have to do before getting their loud annoying and mostly illegal peds when 16

its what everybody has to do now. However after spending 2 years scorning the local ruddies with thier L plated peds im going to have to ride a bike on L plates :lol: :lolz: oh well, just untill i pass the test for a 400 :devil:

tbh ive never really been a bike person but theres not much for less than a grand thatll take you to 60 in less than 5 seconds, rwd, super high mpg and no traffic jams or congestion charge. Living next door to and working in cambridge, it just makes so much sense :hsugh:

I want a bike.. but I would die. My roads are painfully bad for bikers... so I best stick to 4 wheels.. even tho I am bored sh*tless of cars right now

if you fail the cbt you should be killed, its sooooooooo easy, id never riden a bike fefor i took my cbt and within an hour the instructor was calling me a cockey b*****d because i was banking into corners :lol:

i let my cbt run out to (they only last 2 years) as i got my driving licence in 98 which entitles me to ride a 50cc scooter withou L plates :)

Part I - Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

Introductory course sat over one day. Students who fail to pass the CBT in one day can take it again at no extra charge. The CBT must be completed successfully before undertaking Part II training, or before riding a Learner Legal 50cc moped or 125cc on L-plates.
