im in the process of selling my xr2i and buying a fiesta si, ash black and have got stuff planned 4 it and then me dad goes and buys one we r gonna have the same car lol! his is ash black 3 door, will put pics up tomorrow but its fully standard down to the damn orange side repeaters! its 3 door, full elec pack, very tidy
might try and blag him to go to fitp!

yea the engine is prob the best part of it, couple of bad points weve found so far:( ..1, on some gear changes it makes a noise like a knock..? no clue what it is, also one sill has a bit of rust(how much r new sills and can they be fitted out of garage..ie me, so far thats it for bad points, not sure if hes gonna mod it, but ive been telling him possibilities and he might
when i get miner its deffo gonna have leccy windoes!

3 days on, and hes talking of getting a nice old 2litre conversion......so here come the questions!!
how much?!- second hand,new?
how much will a damn garage charge to do it, coz im not good enough to change a whole engine i could try ...but not 100& it would work out!
any answers appreciated

Righteo, first off car looks mint, nice clean example.

For the arches: if you have to ask if you can do it, then I wouldnt recommend you try, put simply

And the same with the engine. If you want somebody to do it, then MmoGenius on FT is one of the best, as is XFactor. I know roughly the price of the conversion will be ?575, including the engine. But depending on your car (ie if there are parts that need replacing depending on the state of them), it could go up to ?700-ish. Doubtful though.

But it will be the best money you can spend on an Si

right 600 quid roughly sounds very reasonable, will talk to the old man!

It is the price for the engine, the conversion, and making sure it's running right

Times you will be looking at are low 8's high 7's, although can be less. It's just a great mod to do.

As for insurance, the 1.6 Si is group 8. The 2litre Mondeo engine, taken from...a Mondeo, is group 9. Not much of a price increase

i thought mondeo was 11, if its 9 thats alot better! how much did peoples insurance jump when the swapped? (sorry for the hijack)

May actually be group 11, my bad.

But there's insurance people who will class it as group 11, because that's what the engine was removed from.

Either way, it doesnt go up much with the right insurance people
