i am a new member and am considerin buying a fiesta si soon, actually this summer. i want to get the 1.6 and just want to know a bit more about the car.

Can u help with the questions below?

Is the bodywork good on the Si (prone to rust?)
What are the engines like (heard good things!)
How easy is it to fit skirts and a cossie bib?

thats pretty much it. any info will be helpfull.

bodywork can be touch and go - fords rust lol. Check the sills and arches, esspecially the rears as they are prone to rust. Also some people have trouble with tailgates and footwells so check them all.

Engines are ok, not good for tuning, everyone takes them out and puts in 2.0 litres. Good for over 100'000 miles. Check for new cambelt at 60k, ?150-200 job if it aint been done.

0-60 about 10secs-ish
115 tops roughly.

skirts (if proper direct fit ones) just rivit on or use sealant, or both perferably.

Same deal with the cossie splitter

then again i am no expert, just bored. :P

they are good cars.
mine had rust on arches and little bit on sills.
only cost ?400 for that to be done, new sills, new rear arches.
check underneath the car car bad rust patches.
the mk3.5 shell is better at protecting against rust for some reason than the mk3
other than that, if it's got any sideskirts on it check for rust round them and behind the front arch spats.

the si is a nice car to drive, the power steerign makes it fun, ive only had mien a while but is fairly nippy, mine the 1.4 si though, still fairly nippy, bit slower than the 1.6

rust wise, theres one tiny bubble in the rear arch(being sorted before skirts and arches go on,

go on get one you no u want one

the main thing is the price. how much you pay should depend on how much work there needs doing to it.
I bought mine for ?450 last october with rust on rear arches and slight blep on sills, cost me ?400 to get that sorted, so car owes me ?950 really. which doesnt work out bad for a good example.

yea that looks good. the colour is nice too. im lookin to get that type of green (racing green).

i was sayin that to my dad that they rust a bit. but he put it into perspective, they were made in 94-95 so its a ten yr old car so there is bound to be a bit of rust anyway. (ITS NOT A BRAND NEW CAR!)

so looking for sure to get one this summer. cheers for all the replies people!!

i bought mine in april 2004. it was errm, ballache. i've replaced some of the stuff on it, due to it wearing out.
+ back box - one month
+ arb bushes went soon after
+ dampers were shagged - 60mm drop on springs (previous owner) replaced with aftermarket shiznet.
+ lower arms
+ mid box died - replaced with full stainless then

not had a single fault with the engine. starts beuatifully and goes like a train, just loved the revs and pulls well. bodywork is good overall. patch on the tailgate under the plate recess and thats about it really.
errm, then i crashed it  so its had basically a new front end on it, with new panels.haha so that shouldnt rust yet!

overall its been a good car, and now the wear and tear has been taken care of i expect (i say this with caution) to have a fairly trouble-free year! ragging it.
