I have a friend who has broke a car and then cut up the shell and weighed it it there is literally nothing left.

On looking at the logbook there is no longer a scrapped box to which we have looked online and the answer is sorn it until to take it to an authorised treatment facility who will dispose of it.

Big problem there is no car!

Anybody know of a war round this apart form sorning it forever! :lolz:

Should have just messaged me

Sign the logbook, and send it in with a covernote stating that you broke the car for parts and weighed the shell in.

Will get a letter from the DVLA saying thankyou, you have scrapped so and so car.

Job done

(done this with around 8 cars)

When I scrapped the Escort they asked for the scrap certificate which scrappies are supposed to provide now.

Just explain the situation to them in written form :)

I'm sure on the V5 notes it states about you breaking a car for parts, and I'm sure it says along the lines of, sign it, and send a letter in.

I've never been asked for proof!

Worst case is, SORN's are now for the lifetime of the car until you tax it, or in this case never.
They would be stupid to enforce the rule that you cannot strip a car for parts and just weigh it in yourself.
Wether you scrap it in full form with a proper car scrapper who sorts out the oil or what not...

ALL metal merchants have to get rid of the oil etc legally, so its their problem lol
