right rollcages. upset insurance companys? and what the hell you put it down as without saying er its for safety reasons... i mean put it down as a change to the interia?

It doesn't upset all insurance companies, but most will assume you are racing it.

Phone up your current insurance company and ask them what the price would be with a roll cage.

Haha I don't think that would be legit. It's technically a chassis rigidity device (as well as safety) so maybe something along the lines of that?

It sounds like you are looking at price comparison sites? You really need to speak to specialist insurers, price comparison sites are set up to deal with predominantly standard UK car insurance.

with regards to fitting a cage, if it changes the number of seats to a permanent two will that increase or decrease the insurance? also do the dvla need to know about the seat number change or is that just extra ballache when I might decide eventually to take it out and refit all standard stuff?

im pretty sure declaring your car is now a 2 seater sports car is going to increase the insurance policy, as opposed to a 5 seater passenger lights goods vehicle? ;)
