Hi, not sure if this counts as a guide, but might give people some guidance,

I have uploaded a large selection of megasquirt base maps to my server,

http://megaflea.net/maps/

As Onslack knows i have been tinkering with megasquirt for a while now in preparation for my blacktop turbo (27th march is the install date :D)
I have gathered a large selection of maps to help me workout the best Engine constraints, cold start, spark advance,AE,Warmup enrichment, over run, prime etc. etc.
on my server you will find a few maps which i am using on my and my friends car as well other other maps people are using on there cars, as well as alot of base maps which you can use to get your car started, please do not attempt to install one of these maps and drive around without some sort of wideband to monitor AFR, every engine is different and one standard engine map isn't necessary transferable to a similar engine in another car (however it may get it running and driving okay for you to tune it your self)

if you need any help getting your megasquirted fiesta up and running feel free to give me a shout :D

The map i am currently running is the Zetec-Fiesta-Rs1800 map, this is the result of hundreds of miles tweaking with a wideband to get my car driving as good as if not better than standard with 30+mpg cruise economy and a good strong powerband to 7200rpm limiter, a great base map for a standard 1.6 1.8 2.0 engine, it has the pwm settings for the icvs which took a long time to get working right,

Well done mate, that's really good of you! Obviously, I personally have no need for them but nice one

its good to share them matey, errr quick question is megasquirt easy to install? as basically i'm currently building my xr2i that has a 115ps gti escort engine in there, and has some bolt on mods but i don't think the standard 105 ecu will be enough, what do you think i'll need and what map would suit it?

ah tis a shame to hear your breaking the mk2 dont supposed your selling the nifty megasquirt to ford loom plug adaptor? i made my own but i'd love the purpose build board ;)

In short, yes mega-squirt is "easy" to install if you have a basic understand of auto-electronics and are good with 12v circuits and relays,

It will probably run a little lean with the 105 ecu, The rs1800 map would be perfect for your set-up and would only require minor tweaking to get it running well,
depending on your bolt on mods you might be better off looking on ebay for an rs1800 ecu, unless you've fitted cams and a 4branch in which case megasquirt would allow you to unlock the potential of them bolt on goodies :D

one other note regarding these maps, they are in megasquirt format however you can use the ignition and fuel tables on other ecu's by exporting them from tunerstudio of megatune.
I found good spark advance table from looking at emerald ecu maps, :nerd:

yeah i have 2.0 cams, a decent 4 branch exhaust manifold and k&n induction kit (i know not gonna do much but hey it was free lol!) also a 2.0 throttle body, probably may run a decat pipe, and also has a decent exhaust system with smaller silencers! how much will i be looking for to get megasquirt and probably knowing me get it installed by someone professional.

hrm yeah with that kinda spec a 105 ecu will probably just aid in melting your exhaust valves or pistons,

right now there is a megasquirt 1 v3 on ebay for |£200 buy it now, i was thinking of buying as a spare as they are around £350 new,

i bought a brand new megasquirt 1 v2,2 for £200 but then had to source an edis 4 unit and modify my ecu to run the edis unit for spark advance,

its all very well paying a "professional" to install your megasquirt but if it breaks youll never know how it works and will have to take it back and you cant be sure if they install it right, it could be very costly, especially if you take it to a tuning place with rolling road these guys will charge you a kidney and a lung to install from scratch,

IMO You'd be "better off" running an after market ecu such as megasquirt,
As its a "modified" engine "Higher lift cams, four branch manifold and induction kit will have significantly changed the engines "breathing characteristics",a standard manufacturer ecu is designed to run a standard engine so you would never achieve the full potential of your modified engine and could possible cause damage mainly from running lean. (probably not in this case)

However in your case being an 1800 engine with 2.0 cams, its basically 130spec (depending on if your using the HO or SO inlet manifold) so you could probably get away with an rs1800 ecu with no problems,

for my SI the megasquirt ecu has increased performance and "cruise mpg" and allows me to tweak my car as and when i want if i modify it (i can drop my blacktop turbo in and map it straight away :D,

(haha its 4:34am at work so excuse me if there are typo's and this doesn't make sense  )
