Found my 2.0 fiesta to be quicker running the 1.6 gearbox, but tbh there isnt alot in it and it will depend on whose driving what really. My fiesta did the 1/4 mile in 15.8 seconds with minor mods, I'm sure there will be some vts times out there.

Also, people doing the conversion, I have most of the parts required, take a look at my for sale thread. Open to offers. (shameless plug!)

ive only ever had a 1600 gearbox on my 2litre and been happy with it for all round performance, pulls well in 3 and 4th and managed 132mph sat nav verified on a airfield track day but that was at 7000rpm in 5th (with a slight tail wind)

Thats an awsome time. I didn't even take out the spare wheel!

TBH, a fiesta isn't about top speed. Above 100mph mine felt uncomfortable. I have put my foot down to see what it would do, but the si box only does like 125mph, which is about what I did so can't relly see the point in trying to do it. In my mondeo (2.0 tdci mk3) I did 135mph home from work one day, and that was just to see what speed an evo was doing so I wasn't exacly trying to do top speed (so it had a little more in it), but at that speed it felt more stable than my fiesta doing 70mph.

Depends on the garage. Some will chare £600 for an engine conversion, where as a 'private' mechanic should be able to have it done in a day, and if your supplying ALL the bits (including oil ect) you could probibly have it in for £100. As said, all depends where you get it done.

well this guy knows his way around a ford veryy well and he spent 3full days fitting all sorts of bits to my mates celica gt-4 and only charged him £100 so im expecting a pretty cheap price, if i get the 2.0 litre engine, with the bits off my 1.6 it should all be there to get it running shouldnt it? goin off what i read that is.

Yes bar you'll be wanting a new cam belt, water pump and poss clutch (uprated preferably). It will run with the 1.6 si ecu but for best results use the correct 2.0 ecu (needs to be a specific code) and same for the tb and same for the MAF.

Clutch ok, waterpump, i guess it would be fine but for like £30 you would be sure of avoiding exspensive future problems.

I've got a 2.0engined mk3 (K reg) doing nothing on my
drive way.........if I take the 2.0 out if that how easy is it to re locate it into my black xr2i ( L reg)
??

Bearing in mind I don't really know anything about this engine other than it's a 2.0 and it's not
long been re-build lol

i presure both are non pas?

if so you wont need to take anything off or swap bits over, just drop the engine out your k reg and drop the engine out your J reg and then put the 2.0 into your L reg

wht ecu's do both cars run?

if you find out what ecu(if you get the code on the ecu, eg, DESK, GURU) both cars are running it'll help narrow down what loom you have

in that case all you' need to do is swap your pas alt mount for your non pas alt mount and all should be good to drop it in your L reg fez
