I'm totally p*ssed off. Phoned direct line who I have been insured with since I started learning at 17 to see about insuring a modded car, and they won't insure me at all in any kind of modded car (engine wise) untill I'm 25!!! :x :x

My original plan was to put a 2.0ltr in when I turned 21 in December this year, but it doesn't look like I can now. The annoying thing is I have built up 3 years no claims with them, but as a named driver so I can only use this no claims with direct line, it doesn't count for any other company. It seems like a no win situation :x :(

That's the problem with going on your parents insurance. What's the point in having no claims tied to a single company, they know they can charge whatever they want then...

Have a look into this see if it's possible. It'll mean you'll have to wait a year, but, when you're renewal is due, go on your own with them for a year to build up a years no claims on your own. See if they add it to your existing 3 years no claims, so you'll have 4. But with the last one being on your own, maybe they'll state to any other company you have 4?

I doubt it, I really do, but surely it's worth a shot? :)

Alot of companies don't allow mods until you're 25 though, so check with any others first.

dave give adrian flux a try, i had 1 ncb and it was cheaper to insure a 2.0'd with flux than it was to renew with tesco :look:

iirc mattyboy was with flux when he had his 2.0 si @ 19yrs old, so they are worth a try

i know i have had a moan about flux in the past but when i was on the looking out for someone to insure my fez they were the best i could find, then again tesco never said no to insuring my fez with a 2.0 engine... they just wanted another £600 on top of the 2k i was paying

Cheers for the advice ppl! 8-)

I've just been on adrian flux's website and filled in all the details, so am just waiting for them to email me a quote now. Will let you know what they come back to me with.

If its lots, I might try what evilDes suggested, and be insured on my own for a year to get 4 years ncb then try and transfer them all to another company.

I've just got a quote from adrian flux for £1325. I'm sure I could get cheaper than this.

What did/do people pay for insurance on their 2.0 ltr fez?

8-)

thats quite a good quote to be honest.
there are some insurance companys out there that will take into acount the fact you have ncb as a named driver, some companys will take that into account when they quote you, phone around and see what you can get but you will be luck to get a better quote than the 1 you already have.
on and i've only ever once just renewd as its a rip off most of the time.
you tell another company your renewal and 98% of the time they will beat it.

Cheers for the comments guys! I will do a bit of phoning around to see if any companies will allow the four years no claims as a named driver, but may well go with Adrian Flux, as by whats been said they seem to have quoted me well 8-)

I think I'd be giving that a shot to!!
Im not sure of the out come either if im honest, but worst case scenario is that you then have 1 year in your name.

The only comparison website that's any good for me is gocompare, and that is still utter tripe! So don't bother with them.
