Fitting a MK4/MK5 Windscreen into MK3 Fiesta

Reasons to do this:

The windscreens have a black outline around the glass and look good.
My local scrapyards are becoming rare to find a MK3 anymore, and can pick any MK4/MK5 windscreen for around £10

Removing screen from MK4/MK5:

Remove the rubber seal from the front of the windscreen, just pulls off as they don't work the same as MK3, the MK4/5 windscreens are bonded in.

Pull A pilar covers off, use a sharp blade or a proper tool to cut through the bonding material used to bond the windscreens into the car.

Cut around the top of the window, might need to pull the roof lining back abit to get to it.

Be very careful cutting the bottom material on the windscreen and do not put much force on sreen to get more space, it will shatter. Once all cut, remove windscreen.

Fitting windscreen into MK3.

Simple.

People on FT.com claimed you had to get a professional to fit one, some people said they didnt fit, some people said you had to get some of the glass trimmed down... erm wtf.

I refused to listen to these comments and thought we need to do it ourselves to see.

Remove all of the bonding matterial from the windscreen left over from the previous car.

Cover the lip on the windscreen area of the MK3 with tigerseal/sikaflex

Position the window in place, and push down.

Fit the rubber around the edges.

You may want to put a little weight onto it overnight to help it stick down.

DONE.

Will show pictures of mine once Ford Fair is over :P

Can you cut through the tiger seal when you need to replace the window?

Tigerseal/sikaflex etc etc are all the same sort of bonding stuff :) But if you had to replace one I'd probably kick it out anyway

Here are a couple of the inside. as you can see you can see the sealant and parts of the metal.. to overcome this if your really bothered.. mk4/5 a pillar covers modded to fit.. and mk4/5 dash.

also top of roof lining you can see, but due to the black edges on the windscreen you cannot see this from the outside.

it doesnt bother me really.

I'm really really sorry for dragging a very very old thread up, but it's worth asking other people if these guys aren't on the forums any more...

Regarding the gap left on the interior, what about using the back half of the windscreen seal fitted in place? Merely as an aesthetic thing? I've attempted to remove a windscreen from a MK3 before in a scrappy, and the easiest way (because the rubber was in worse condition than mine) was to literally cut the outside of it off leaving the inner portion.

That would work.
I would do that on the bottom part nearest the dash and use mk4/5 a pillar trims
