Oh yeah it can be taken either way, but always side with the none offensive side as life's too short.

We should have a sub section of the forum for people to vent.

I love these debates i really do! its a damn good read! which may actually help the forum as people enjoy a good read! :insanity:

But the video is crap to be fair! im impressed with the clio

but what i want to see if the focus vs the Renault version the megane and the clio vs the st150! then i think it will be fair! i think the clio would do the st no prob i think...but megane vs focus RS we know who would win. ;)

if you want my opinion the zetec s is fairly crappy tho (no offense) just personal preference! thats where ford where a complete let down...i would have put the st170 engine in the zetec-s or make a better model of the zetec-s but then again from sales perspective that's not viable really as st170 sales would have dropped! I suppose that would be the reason ford are one of the biggest and best...they know exactly how to cover the entire market  :D

i appreciate other car makes but im a ford man through and through so i love my fords!!!!

i personally dont think its fair to compare to compare the video but thats my point!

this is the same magazine who rated the C2 as a car not for enthusiasts? :P

as you told me fella...play nice  :lolz:

meilack wrote:

yes, but french cars have had a trait of being the best handling for nigh on 20 years, which i have never disputed :P , so surely they are a main player?

French cars are brilliant on fwd but then again you got to take into account that's what they have completely concentrated over the last 15 years so of course they got it spot on id be worried if they didn't! when Renault were making there front wheel drive cars...ford where making 4wd & rear!!! i guess you got to take into account that each maker has there strong point! ford likes a small dabble in every market except over the recent years they only fwd! :(

anyway please continue Image

i do play nice :xmasghey:

the clio could reverse faster then the fiesta ST in all honesty  :lolz:

that would be a darn good tussle, 2 amazing cars :D

there's plenty of cars ford have made which should have been faster:

Mk5 ZS Fiesta
Mk6 ST fiesta
MK1 Focus ST170

etc :)

even with a focus st, i still have a hankering for a Diamond White S2 ERST :)

now put an st170 engine in a zetec - s and you got a good toy! clio cup competitors at least them!

i think your just very passionate about fords aren't you :D

I am! but im playing old school ford at the moment and i cant really find any old Renaults around the same era on the road to compare much so old school fords rule :halo: plus back in the days when my lil car was about Renault 5s weren't the best handlers and out handled by xr2s me thinks but yet they were more powerful so really over time the tables have turned...but it shows how far Renault have come with the designs!

This is not meant offensive to any one i just find it highly amusing! my mate who sits opposite me in work drives a clio cup and we play all the way home as he also lives in the next street to me (although i screw him all the way home :halo: )

anyway i showed him this little debate to him and his reaction "French cars aren't better than fords at all, they are cheap, nasty, plastic tat and the only good thing about them is the price, speed and handling" :lolz: :lolz: :lolz: no hes not very mechanically minded but he said for the unknowing...if he had the money he would love to have a ford as better built. (again not mechanically minded person but still just though id share as it amused me as i didnt expect it as he loves his car)

so i suppose there is the reason they go so well! cheap build..which just turned in there favour! :halo:

ah right, so i'm pathetic for defending fords on a ford based website  i hadn't worked that one out

well excusse me

i was just using examples :)

Why are you defending them when they are not being attacked? Why do you take the intital post as it slating the Ford? It's more a 'Look what the Clio can do'. Hence why it's in the other makes and marques section.

meilack wrote:

new french cars must be up there for handling surely? if the new clio sport and R26.R are anything to go by? :?

Yes they are but so are most hatchbacks these days, Fiesta, Focus, Megane, Clio, Abarth, Heck even the Volvo C30 is supposed to handle quite well.

and i'm quick to jump on the defensive bandwagon as

A: no-one seems to bother in fear of a scathing reply, where as i am not bothered, rip me to shreds! i just want a level playing field :)
B: i don't want fords portrayed as rubbish when they aren't

opinions are good :) if we all liked the same thing it would be boring, its just the WAY some things are said, like the first post in this thread which start things off. Hopped on the bandwagon of french vs ford? it looks to me like it still exists

But you what, fine whatever

i am wrong, there :)

:nerd:

It may exist for you with these VS car threads, but for most of us, it's just a simple topic and nothing more, nobody replies due to a "scathing reply" as we don't do that anymore, we've all grown up and past that, well most of us, and that's the only reason why I'm replying, so everyone knows nothing is meant by any of it, and replies like Adam's are not needed, as to me it looks like a serious reply on something that is simply light hearted and nothing more.

Still i could be an arse and say get the hell out of other makes and marques section with your constant Ford can't be discounted crap, but I don't. ;)
