if you lived nearer id say pop it round for a go with the PC :)

how do you find those water blade things?
ive never been a fan to be honest because i think they will just drag dirt across yer paintwork causing scratches

I quite like the waterblade, as it's only rinse water i take off with it, it's pretty clean, so shouldn't be too bad with scratches imo. I then use the waffle weave to remove whatervers left. I think the drying action of the towel could also work dirt particles against the paintowrk so can't really win.

Anyway, my rinse and dry step is done using clean water after the car's been shampooed, it's more to rid watermarks than anything else.

Thanks for the compliments though, could certainly benefit from a little sunshine  and proper camera (using a k850i atm, good for a phone, but not up to par with a dedicated cam)

Boost - I love the way black reflects so well, you've done a good job making it it's best. 8-)

First attempt at porn :teehheee: shame it shows up all the dents, orange peel and runs really :(

Gave it a quick wash, then t-cut to see what i could do about all the scratches and scuffs (had also been keyed down both sides :( ) Then finished off with Autoglym super resin polish.

oh sorry some of the pics are blurry :S

Looks like where a birds Shat on your car and its been left to long and "Burnt" the paintwork! :) You would have to use a cutting compound, not T-cut as that can be too harsh! :)

And as you have used T-cut already, i advise you to get some Wax on the paintwork to protect it! ;)

I reccomend Dodo Juice Rainforest Rub, which can be got from Gareth at Detailed Obsession (link at the Top of the Detailing Forum) :)

I was dipping into dads car cleaning stuff :P he has an old autoglym polish bottle which has "hard wax" written on the side which i was tempted to try but will enquire further into exactly what it is first  do you just put wax on like polish ?

Cheers :)

Id not use a Hard wax, especially if your not use to wax! :)

Depends which wax you get to how you apply it, Dodo Juice i apply with my bare fingers. Go Halfords and get Some Megs NXT TECH Wax, the liquid form not the paste as your a newbie to the Detailing world and you apply that like polish, so on with a clean M/F cloth and off with a clean M/F ! :)

Looks good in those pictures luke, you've certainly made the most out of it. I especially like the passenger side rear.

How did you find the T-Cut? Ease/difficulty? Effectiveness etc. It seems overlooked in the detailing community with people going for more exotic stuff all the time. I'm wanting to rid my swirls as far as i can by hand, is it a good starting point?

Hope your feeling better about the car.

It's overlooked for a reason, not just for the sake of going for "exotic" stuff. A good start would be with Poorboy's SSR, but you're never going to get rid of all your swirl marks by hand, if at all. You may be able to tone them down a bit, but they'll always be there. Machine polishing is the most effective way. :)

The problem with Tcut is that its different to most other compounds like SSR in the way that things like SSR are diminishable (obviously spelt wrong ), where as TCut isnt so it will never break down.

Keep rubbing away at tcut and you will keep rubbing away your paint
keep rubbing away a normal compound polish and after the abrasives have broken down it will then polish the surface. you can rub all day long ( well, within reason ) with most compund polishes without taking off to much paint or laquer ( dependant of compound choice, pad choice, hardness of paint etc )

i hope that makes sense, its too early for me

Cheers, personally im more of a fan of the drivers side as it had a huge big keymark down it which i made disappear which unfortunately is starting to come back, will have to get some touch up pen in it or something :)

Its fairly easy but was a bit trial and error, first time i found id been rubbing too hard / too long as id left loads of little swirl marks, so i had to go over it again, i found the best approach was to put the compound on pretty thick over deep marks and to work it in gently, then spread it over the whole panel akin to polish just to take the crap out of the top layer. Im really impressed with the finish as although the pics dont really show, its come up with a nice deep shine to it that simply wasnt there before.

Yeah im feeling much better about it now, usually im quite a well judged analytical sort of person but when it comes to cars i see it and i want it lol.
