What's that meant to prove? Everyone knows most modern ecoboost, duratec and zetec-s engines are produced by mazda lol

Everyone was saying it was something else lol.

I'm going to source (and it isn't going to be quick, easy or cheap to do one of these) the 2.5 version. There's a slightly modified one with VVT and extra features on the ECU.

Yup. The expensive thing is the biggest holdup. Fortunately we all have access to that massive thread jimmyesh did for tips.

not wishing to dampen things but so many people say i'll do this or that and it never happens!

check if the cost is worth it - is the shell in good enough condition to warrant it? brakes? suspension? etc ;)

Yeah I see where you're coming from :)

Aim is to first clean up the shell. The panels have odd bits of rust but the shell is in decent condition. Done the brakes, next is the suspension and uprating some of those parts. The engine is last, by a long way. I like a nice drive first then silly power is after.

nice Dan. think its an awesome idea to work towards!

once you have the coilies, get the body sorted then start looking at th eengine. yes it might be expensive, but if you spread it over a length of time like i have it doesnt seem that bad :P

Sure won't be bad bits at a time. Probably the biggest expense is going to be the engine itself and the shed/garage I'll need to build.

Maintain the car over winter, with no garage it's going to be far too damn cold to do anything that's not a "have to do". One of those have to's is the front wheel bearings, so going to order some replacement track rod end split pins and hub nuts, get the carriers off and then take them round to a garage to press out and in.
