 Post subject: hesitation when warm

I have owned a 1994 fiesta si 1600 zetec for two months. In all that time there has been a hesitation when the engine reaches normal temperature. While the engine is warming up, it is fine. I would buy a fault code reader, if I knew where to get the correct one from. Any help on this matter would be gratefully welcomed.

fault code readers are typically available from ebay :)

the hesitation sounds very similar to the one i've had on my other car. i found that changing the plugs and leads helped a bit. some people say its a problem with the MAF sensor (on the pipe from the airbox)

it's normally around 2k-2.5k rpm if i recall.does this sound about right? my first port would be bit of a service, then if i continues, pop into ford or where and get them to have a look. you could buy this and that for it trying to problem solve but they might be able to tell you in minutes.

if you could try someone elses maf sensor then try that to see if it solves it :insanity:

Thank you for your help, your suggestions will be tried. Could you tell me why the fault code reader that you have shown does not mention the zetec engine in its listings.

When was the last time you changed your spark plugs & HT Leads, or it had an oil & filter change ?

Its had new plugs, oil and filter a week ago. The leads checked out to be ok. I have purchased the fault code reader that scotty boy suggested, and the numbers that are continually showing are:-33 1 33. These are apparently the current codes. The KAM codes should appear after, but do not.My system supplies two digit codes and according to the chart supplied with the reader, the code is low coolant temperature. I would be grateful for help on this matter. Thank you.

Could be the the sensor on top of engine that sends temp data to ECU, repaired mine and now runs fine (with better MPG too)
