Fiesta Si 1.6i 16V Zetec - i've noticed there seem to be alot of oil on the sump, also got little patches of oil on my drive way. Done an oil change about 3 months ago (put in about 4.5\5 L) and now the oils low in the car again (about 2L), so ive lost about 3L of oil and now you can hear the tappets knocking (but that always stops when its got full oil). Ive checked the sump plug and the seal and thats ok, checked around the filter too but seems to be no oil leaking from there either. Someone has told me that it might leaking from the pressure sender seal........but i dont know what or where it is, anyone have any ideas ? Is it also possible that it could be leaking from the oil pump igasket if it has worn ?

the pressure switch is on the back of the block, in about the middle of it. right pain in the arse to get to.
possibility of it leaking from oil pump gasket, but unless it has been disturbed i doubt it.
Check the oil filter is on tight, as was what was wrong with mine when it started bleeding.

i there oil only on the sump or is it down the sides of the block aswell???

best way to find out is o get ya hands dirty and physically run ya finger down the side of the block.

if its from up higer could be the cam cover gasket need replacing as oil is under high pressure in the head especially and will leak from the smallest of holes
alternatively it could be a lose connection or a split on any of the oil hoses

clean ya engine and then find out where it is leaking from :D
