Is this quite a common problem? Had one put in about 5 weeks ago when it snapped, pedal felt fine and light as it did before it first snapped, didn't feel any more heavy than any other car I've driven but again today it snapped on me, managed to rev match the car about 15 miles but busy traffic and red lights meant I was forced to ring the AA again, tried to get a cable on, but was either too slack to move the linkage or too tight that the pedal wouldn't budge so had to have her towed...Clutch grabs brilliantly, previous owner tells me it is a stage 2 clutch hence why it's a little unforgiving and jerky but pedal doesn't feel stiff or heavy, AA bloke reckons I need a new clutch ratchet and cable? This sound normal? cba having to take the box out spent enough money on it already...

Where did the cable snap, at the nipple at the gearbox end? If so did you grease it up where it goes into the leaver end as this is where it seizes up and the twisting snaps nipple off.

Yeah mate it that's where it has snapped both times and no didn't grease it, both times it snapped the nipple was stiff to pull out the linkage, should a bit of grease on here sort it then?

Try clean off any crud from where the nipple sits and then cover nipple with copper slip or something and make sure it can move about a bit and should be fine

Turned out that the ratchet itself had snapped as well, would this be clutch related or do the ratchets commonly fail?

Not entirely sure, cba with it today so took it garage this morning and the guys there said it was broken, the AA bloke also said a piece had snapped off. Are there any modified ratchets I can buy for the S2 clutch? Pedal wise it's not stiff like a S2 clutch but grabs like one when driving, bit like an on and off switch haha so if there's a modified ratchet I can buy perhaps I should get one?

the ratchet arm is solid metal no way that would snap before the clutch cable does.

i had issue with clutch cable too, when mine snapped the nipple end on gearbox ratchet it was a mission to take the nipple out it was proper siezed in. new one i got in with lots of grease on the nipple and the housing end, so far so good its been on for a few years now. probably 5 years now.
