Hello chaps (its nice starting these problems with a greeting)

I changed all my discs and pads about a month or 2 ago and recently (could be awhile ago as I dont drive the car much) iv heard a slight rubbing sound, infact it sound like when you try to set off with the hand brake on. It does this at low speeds but I assume when you speed up its still rubbing but making no sound.

If it is the hand brake on too tight its only slightly as the car doesnt feel like it has the brakes on, i mean it still will rolldown a slight hill.

When I get home I will jack it up with out hand brake on and see how the wheels spin.

So anyway thats my technical problem and my questions are could I have upset the hand brake when fitying new discs and pads and what should I be doing to sort this out?

I would like to think I know how to change brakes but if ive missed something pkease tell me as I know alot of you or more mechanicaly experienced than me.

I screwed the pistons in as apposed to just pushing them in with an open ended spanner I didnt have the "special" tool but I cant see that making a differance.

Sorry for the long story on such a small problem but its best you all know everything.

caliper could be seized as its quite common for rear calipers or the handbrake cable is getting seized in the sheaf.
ive had both problems on a couple of my mondeos now.
to check unclip the handbrake cable from the caliper.
try and operate the lever on the caliper. it should spring back when you let go of it.
to check the cable you should be able to pull it freely

Did you slacken the handbrake cable inside the car before fitting new disc and pads, then readjust it after you fitted them?
