This problem has been driving me made for years. Theres a horrible squeaky noise from the engine around the fan belt and cogs, when the engines idle or at 2000 rpm or below. Its worse when its been raining. Ive sprayed WD40 around the belt and cogs and it works for about 2 days then comes back. Is there anyway to stop it perminantley and does anyone else have this problem ?

i have this exact same problem and its driving me nuts,
according to brookenstien (i think) he had the same problem and it turned out to be a crack in 1 of the plastic pullys the belt goes round. apperently over time they get hot and crack

you can only ge them from ford though, so i'm sure it will be over priced! still its anoying enough to warrent it!

It is a plastic pulley that cost's about ?20 from Fraud, cured the problem though.

Sorry, I actually tidied up and threw the box away (Doh!), but it is called " Idler tensioner pulley kit" and it is located just above the alternator, I would also get a new drive belt (pk1275). Hope this helps.

Its not the cam belt that needs to come off though is it, if its a pulley above the alternator then its the fan\drive belt that needs to be removed and replaced.
