Fancy the ultimate std fit driving seats in your FSI

heres how :D

Unbolt the Mk3 recaro subframes (assuming you have FRST/RS1800 Mk3/XR2i 8v option recaros) and keep the bolts.

Take a pair of Mk3.5 seats with subframes. Unscrew the two plastic posidrive screws on the underside. Remove the seat cushion by lifting the front upwards and pulling out.

Unbolt the 4 13mm nuts holding the base assembly to the subframes. Remove subframes,

Using a hammer, knock the mounting studs backwards out of the Mk3.5 subframes.

On the underside of the Recaros, identify the mounting bolt holes which will be next to the seat belt clip (driver's rear left, passenger's rear right). Screw one of the Recaro mounting bolts backwards through this hole (so it points downwards out of the seat base).
This will act as a locating peg instead of inserting a bolt here as the Mk3.5 subframe design doesn't allow access to the underside of the stud.

Bolt the other end of the subframe runner in as normal and tighten. This bolt should never bear a load

Bolt the other subframe down as normal - the hole spacings are all the same.

When fitting, remember to tighten the two bolts holding the rail closest to the handbrake to torque while the other two are only nipped up, slide the seat back and forwards to align the outer rail

(add grease now if you need to), and then tighten the outside rails afterwards.

job done.

HTH Tony :D

soon as you've had a quick look and figured it out on the first side, other side wont take 30mins :D

i do suggest you do the passenger side first, just in case something goes wrong - so you can still drive the damn thing!
