False economy with cheap tyres. You only have about 2" contact patch on the road withyour tyres. I realise that mega expensive tyres are often way over priced, but they are the only things keeping you on the tarmac, and when they have to cope with gripping, acceleration, braking, and steering, you are asking a lot of 2" of rubber per corner.
I'd always go for the best I could afford, rather than scrimp on something so important ;)

 Indeed. I paid £75 a corner for my Eagle F1s, but they've been worth every penny. I'd say the grip I have in the wet is comparable to that of my cheapo tyres in the dry. I'd buy more if I could get them! Tempted to have something like R888s on it next summer:

That is very true. My saxo came with cheap tyres and it was scary. Got the eagle f1s back on (from my fiesta) and everything was great again.

As it is a will recommend f1s all day but you already know that and you can't get them so I don't know, buy some 15's maybe? :)

So I was going to opt for 4 Eagle F1's, but can someone (Des) persuade me other to the Proxes T1-R's? 195/45/15's obviously.

Mr Ry dude, you can't lose with either Eagle F1's or Toyo Proxes, although I think the F1's might be a tad more expensive. I actually can't say which one to go for, because they're both awesome tyres, but make sure you do go for one of them!

We had a nice little chat about tyres at sexyfields, I think its down to personal opinion, as what ive had bad experience's with others reccomend, its also down to the car i would guess, i have some Nankangs on mine and there pretty cheap tyres but they grip really well.

Yeah, the F1's will cost me £190.40 and the Proxes will cost me £180 from mytyres.co.uk so nothing in it really.

Cheers me dears (or deers)
