Right guys ive discarded the idea of using the 1.7 puma engine in my MK3 as reading everyone's reply there pointless doing so im now going for a 2l zetec engine

ive been offered a full 2L Zetec Focus but not sure if its silver or black top and heard that silvertops are easier to do as the exhaust manifold is on the front where as on the blacktops its on the back, As some of you may be aware im going for a track/road car so not worrying about things like exhausts,fuel pumps etc as will be having a custom exhaust from the manifold back made and will eventually be doing a in car fuel tank and battery relocation to the boot.
ill be having the Focus from a mates breakers yard so will have the whole car to use,

Has anyone used a 2l Zetec from a focus if so how did you fit it ? e.g mounts,shafts,hubs etc etc

blacktop is mounted in a completely different way also

if you are using a 1.1 a cvh would fit easier but a silvertop zetec isn't impossible

Wanted a 2l just more for the power side of things really a few people told me to drop a cvh turbo in it but its finding one thats not fooked and a normal carb fed 1.6 cvh would i need to run looms/ecus or could i keep the original one thats in my car now ? and i believe they would be easy to tune and reasonably cheap

i spoke a bloke on Facebook whos used a 2l silvertop turbo and his response was " mines a silver top which is rather straight forward to mount I just used the standard rs turbo engine mount and used the standard gearbox cradle...blacktops I know the top engine mount is different so I wouldn't be much help with that"

would my 1.1 mount and cradle be the same as the FRST or would i need them for a silver top to fit ?

first off you are confusing the later zetec black top engine with the zetec se engines in 1.4, 1.6 and 1.7 guise.
the ''black top'' 2ltr zetec r engine is a development of the zetec and zetec e engines so both have the exhaust manifold on the front

Right guys ive beed offered a full 1999 FOCUS GHIA 1.8 for £150 from my dads boss, how different are the the blacktop emgines to mount ? And has anyone done this to know how to ?

Ive put one in a mk3.5, you need to get creative basically. you can do it without cutting a shutting the chassis just need to make up some brackets
