First off, no, it isn't a guide [moved].

Second, a bit of advice: shop around. What's good for one person, isn't always good for another person. We all know insurance companies talk right out of their rectums, so finding a quote that's good for you is part of the fun and excitement of owning a car

You really do have to phone around, get a good quote, then play them off against each other. I done an online quote the other day, they phoned me up, asked if they were competetive. I said not really, I had better. Instantly the bloke said "well, I can beat that then!". Jaysus, if you can beat it, just give the damn cheapest you can do in the first place! :x I hate insurance companies!

Many companies say you'll get cheaper quotes online, in truth this is balls, they just want to save on admin costs and set a standard cost (less chance of hagling).
Phone around and tell them the cheapest quote youve had and ask them if they can beat it, be blunt but polite, it's worth it when you have a few hundered quid left in your pocket!
