Ive had my licence since 2000, am 27 with 3 points, been on a traders policy the whole time ive been driving so dont have any no claims bonuses, this year my dad said i should get my own insurance so looked around to get some quotes, the cheapest i got were from Footman James...

Because both my cars are over 20 years old they can be covered on classic car insurance, only 1 is garaged the other is parked out on the road at all times...

My Xr2i, all mods declared with limited mileage of 5000 - £199.00 a year fully comp!
My mk2 fiesta bog standard 1.1 unlimited use - £166.00 a year fully comp!

I wouldn't cover me either, 7 years no claims... I must be due something to happen!

Highway want £1200 with £700 Excess

Had some luck with admiral £643 with no claims protection (never had that before).

Found another few odd things, me and my other half are on each other insurance:

Now last year it increased my premium a small amount to add her, this year it costs me £60 if I remove her.

Secondly due to being on her insurance policy I tick the having access to another vehicle bit, if I remove that it shoots to over £1000.

I figured that if a garage and tracker increase my insurance maybe I should tell them I leave the doors open with the keys in the ignition at night.

Will phone sky insurance this weekend.

how about lowering mileage? taking hidden extras off?

i had my renewal letter through for £1200 paid off for a year so i rang them up took off breakdown cover and legal cover also downgraded the courtesy car lowered the mileage to 4k and it dropped down to £882, obviously paying monthly it goes up because of interest, is your postcode that bad??!?

From the moment I picked up your book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it.

Mileage is already set to 4000miles, I have removed breakdown cover and such like already.

I am more concerned about how this increased quite massively from one year to the next.

I just feels like they look at like this:
Male = Will crash
under 40 = Will crash
OL postcode = will get it stolen
Citreon C2 = defo get stolen by jealous fiesta ST owners

With that if my car get stolen iw ill just steal somebody elses as that what we do in Oldham when we aren't stabbing and shooting each other.

I never knew they discriminated against postcodes as badly as not even insuring someone because they live somewhere :0

Maybe the whole tracker and garage thing is that they think your going to expect them to pay out for the garage and tracker when it gets broken into, stolen and you find the tracker at the bottom of a river :lolz:
