i guess you have a mk4 Si then?

seems a bit steep. youll have to do alot of hunting around to get a good price

also do a pass plus course.. can save 48% with norwich union..

Dont use adrian flux. good prices. rape your money on policy changes/cancellations/anything.

Try Chris Knott. Elephant. Tesco. And see if confused.com gives you any nicer prices.

better to go TPFT first time driving really, as it's way cheaper. But it's up to you.

I wouldnt know on the cancellations

But last year I changed the car on my policy 3 times and I didnt have to pay them anything, in the end they owed me £300+ (cant remember exactly) due to going from BMW to RS1800

That still wasn't in the mk3 though... :?

Sometimes you gotta just grin and pay if 1800 is the best quote you can get. If you're phoning around though, check both TPFT and fully comp, as when I first got insured it was actually cheaper to get fully comp than TPFT, for some strange reason. I still remember the guy on the phone being more shocked than I was

£1800 sound abit excessive to me for a mere insurance group 5.

Males on group 6/7 can get to as low as 1.5/1.6k dependent on location and profession.

Just keep trying.

Confused.com is good ;) however I found out the other day that along with elephant, sheilas wheels, bells etc. its a subsidury of admiral

Admiral are cheap but also sit twidling their thumbs when your in a no fault accident (nearly a year on :look: ............. :x)

If changed the vehicle on my policy 10 times with admiral this year and it didn't cost me....(had to ring up to claim the full amount back as their computers are crap and the call centre workers need the accounting departments permision to pull a calculator out their arse)
Always keep track of how may days each car is on cover people, their computer will try to rape you :x

i would advise anyone who has a modified car and/or points on their license to give Brentacre a ring.

i have just rang them and they seem very good, flexible and fair. i was given a price that was the most competetive i've had for my 306. they've basically insured it as a 180bhp limit, and i can do what i like in terms of modifications without charge. rollcages are covered at no extra cost and engine swaps/exhausts etc are covered aswell

basically well worth a phonecall.. my 306 has an engine swap, buckets, full strip out, possible cage on the way and i am safe in the knowledge this'll be ok now and all declared/legal

he also said to me on the phone "you can take the engine out of the front and put it in the back at no extra cost"

http://www.brentacre.com
tel: 01792 650 933

Sounds interesting! might ring them later.

What's moved to group 20? Why would it? You done an engine conversion or something?

Call Chris Knott insurance group up.

Group 20 is imported 4WD turbo territory. As well as ferrari and Porsche groups.

They clearly do not know what they are saying.

having said that you on a group 20 car would not be insured until at least 21! and if you did it would be £5k+

I went with More Than this time, £800 fully comp with a years no claims, lot of excess though :| before i found that though i put it on as if i was a new driver and it came up with £1600 and thats for a 1.6Si, sometimes it can be postcode and things that make a difference though, and knowing the 'right' things to say :)

Didn't think the 1-50 had come into play yet. Wonder what all our cars will come under when it does

Ahhaaa:

Quote:
Insurers may use the panel recommendations in their calculation of car insurance premiums but, as these groupings are provided as a recommendation only, they may choose to use their own groupings. Thatcham have recently introduced a new set of fifty groups, which they are using alongside the existing twenty groups in testing new cars. The move to fifty groups means that each model of car can be more accurately banded with similar cars. Some insurers are now using fifty groups in their premium calculations.
