Just a quick question.

How easy would it be to put on an aftermarket steering wheel on the Si. I know there are complications because of the airbag. If i put on an aftermarket steering wheel where would i stand when its up for an MOT.

Was looking at a Kahn F1 Steering Wheel in Black\Silver.

That would be easy, just take out the Airbag bulb around the speedos then. So does anyone know if the steering wheel not actual having an airbag makes any difference ?.

One of the reasons your insurance is whatever price it is, is due to the records on their computers stating that it has safety features including the airbag.

If you was to take it out, you would have to tell them, and it may well up your premium :)

i read somewhere that if you comlete the circuit, i.e connect the 2 wires that connected to the airbag, the car things all is ok and the light goes out, as it thinks there is an airbag there,

btw mate, have you seen the momo driver wheel? i reckon it would look the mutsnuts in an si

Don't forget that theres a few other things you gotta change too on your car, other than just the steering wheel

I like the zetec S (mk5) steering wheel. a bit of red looks (or blue) looks nice amongst all that black in the Si's interior

your airbag light would still need to function as normal with the bag removed,

insurance will need to be notified as said

and if it is removed and light function properly you will pass the MOT

if you remove the bulb you will fail, been there and done that with my ABS system that is no more

told my insurance company about the removal and they were fine with it, no extra cost for removing a so called safety system

also be careful when you remove it as it contains explosives, store it properly and dont throw it on a fire, it may sound like a good idea but thats some really scary shit :D
