I'm thinking of going for a full magnex system.... and just few questions.

The 3" looks a bit piddly but at the same time does the the 4" growel loud when idle? i like it loud when i open it up but not too keen on it making loads of noise when its just ticking over?

Also i'm aiming to drop a 2.0L in it this summer, whould i need to make any modifications to the exhaust?

Any info

Cheers

magnex tends to sell themselves on their quality more so than their noise, and you tend to see an increase in power more often than not with magnex.

i've got a 4" on mine

you can drive it on light throttle and it sounds standard, then when you open it up more you can hear it. it makes quite a bit of booming on the overun, just what i like. id deffo go magnex again. :D

oh questions. no you wont need to mod the exhaust in anyway. you'd use the same downpipe...
it doesnt make any noise on idle. :)

Got a magnex full system, was thinking about changing it but after speaking to some of you guys ive decided to keep it. The only thing i thought about doing is getting a universal 5" slashcut Magnex backbox to replace my current one, but i rekon alot of youi guys would rule against that ?

What do you think :?

Ive currently got a 4" round one and that has some play either side of it. Well, if i go for it and it doesnt fit, i'd just simply make the hole in the bumper bigger, but not sure if i want it yet. I like it but everyones says stay away from jap style backboxes, so not sure what to do ?

I wouldn't go for 5" and think that a jap zorst really only looks good on jap cars. but each to their own. If you like it go for it

I wouldn't personally go for a slash cut pipe, I prefer the more subtle, normal looking ones. I've gone for a 4" Powerflow box, which fits the bumper gap nicely, and is not nearly as loud as I feared. It burbles very subtley at idle and up to 2.5k / 3k revs, and then sounds much more rumbly over that without being obnoxious.

Each to their own though, modifying cars is all about expressing your personality. :)

not always true about jap zorsts and jap cars, really depends on how the car is modded, for example a japenese car with reallt smooth rounded features wouldnt suit a jap style zorst, where as a fiesta with a sort of aggressive look may well, every cars different :)

my last fiesta had a full stainless with jap 4.5" tailpipe, suited it well.
think it looks good if your car has an agressive or urban appearance. otherwise stear well clear
my si is gonna be treated to one shortly

I have a magnex 4" system on my 1600 si, but it wasnt loud enough as you say for when you stick your foot down....so i had the mid section removed!!!! Its cheap and also a power gain!!
Capow...instant smiles when you start up!!
Just been looking, and peco now do a 4" outwardly rolled back box for other fiestas (instead of just turbos) i have e-mailed them to see if they do it for the si! will let you know what they say!!

i'd say go for the slash cut back box

but i wouldn't advise anyone with a naturally aspirated car to remove the middle box on an exhaust

N/A cars wont get a power gain and will have less pull if you remove boxes as you need back pressure to keep the engine running, the less you have the harder the engine will work to make the same power as before

the same works for my car but i could run a 6 inch tube the full length of the car as all my back pressure is made in the turbo, only reason i have boxes is for making the exhaust quieter :D
