?5000 :o good god thats alot 2 turbo it. U'd b better off dropping a 2 litre lump in it as its cheaper even tho it'll only give u bout a 40BHP increase & not 50BHP so ur only losing on 10BHP. Or u could drop a reconditioned RS Turbo lump in there instead :).

But @ the end of the day its up 2 u on what u decide 2 do :)

Mate at ?5000, theres no way i was going to consider it. wanted a 2.0l lump but ideally want a turbo, already considered getting a FRST lump for it, but was questioning how reliable they are after having the 1.6 zetec and not a days trouble out of it over the last 7 odd years.

5k could buy you a LOT better car than a fezzy too!

Not that Im having a go, cus I love mine to bits, but if I had ?5000, I'd plough it into something that was already fast.

Thats a load of wedge for not much power too, 50bhp can be done with nitrous for a lot less. As people have said, 2L conversion seems to be the way to go :)

?5k is silly money to turbo a 1.6

Buy a 2ltr Zetec turbo for ?3k :D

Or just drop a 2ltr lump in it for a decent price (I wont post it up on here, as I know the people that do it wont appreciate it being publically broadcast, as prices vary :) ).

should be fairly easy to do with that kind of cash
zetec engine - 300 (tops)
FRST inlet - 50 (tops)
Inlet adaptor - 50
ERST Exhaust manifold(tap the head) - 30 (tops)
T3 Turbo - 550 (stage 3 T3 from TT)
FRST Management - 150 (plumb it in yourself)
Low comp pistons - 400 for the set
Exhaust - 250
so then really you've only got the labour on top of that
so all that comes to
?1780
do as much as you can yourself and robert's your mother's brother

Waste of money and time doing the same lump with a turbo bolted to it and I bet its a low pressure conversion and all like runiing 9psi or summat

ZT is the only thing Id consider if it was worth 5k

You've forgotten to add the uprated suspension, brakes, gearbox, clutch, engine mounts, gaskets and all of the parts for pure servicing that go into engine conversions. Add another ?3220 and you're nearly there ;)

Depends whether you do it in stages or not - destroying the old bits on your way, I personally like to have things set in place first. Swings and roundabouts though - if you do it the destructive way just make sure you are a member of a roadside recovery plan!

TTFN,

Doc

Spot on there Andy mate.

People that are considering ZT should be pretty clued up to it all and know what goes with. And if they are, then they should be pretty prepared and get the things needed in stages, before they go for major power like the ZT's :)

I still think its a waste of time turbo-ing the 1.6si u mite aswell get a 2 litre lump or xr2i lump or RST lump. But that will only set u back bout ?1000 or so, so much cheaper & better 4 urself & ur wallet

Hope u decide what u wanna do :)

Have a look into Xfactor's 2L turbo lump mate, I think they're asking about 2,500 for it and an extra 300 for fitting...

Will also be a lot more powerful than just the extra 50 horses.
